| drum solo's, songs, shows and more |
[Mar. 12th, 2006|08:16 pm] |
it's been a while since i wrote here.
i decided that as a drummer i should have some solo's so i recorded one today. you can listen to it on myspace ... it's called "field trip to a drum factory" cause i didn't wanna just call it the cliche "drum solo" cause that's fucking boring. i hope you guys like it. i'll be recording more during the march break.
also i'm gunna have a ton of time now (a week exactly) to record and finish writing some of my songs which should be cool.
stay tuned.
shows -- i played at a fashion show ... it was a different experience but it was pretty fun. got to know some people who i didn't know before. twas fun. one of my bands is having a show on the 24th at the reverb ... check it out if ya want. umm ... my other band, trademark, should have a show sometime in april. i'll keep y'all informed.
the more part in the title is referring to me getting a camera. my parents and i decided that i should get a digital slr. and we picked out the beauty that is nikon d70s. google it. it's fucking beautiful.
look out for pictures too!
i hope everyone's doing well.
cheers. |

i made a little splash page with some banxter related sites and a contact form.
check it out.

| shows and new songs |
[Feb. 11th, 2006|09:35 pm] |
hey everyone, i've been working like mad. i have 3 songs to finish engineering, mixing, and mastering for a client, and an album cover for another client. it's been busy as fuck around here, but it's good, cause i'm never not doing something. also trying to get some shows for my band. right now i have 2 shows for sure with the filibusters, a band who i'm session drumming for. check out myspace for the dates cause i'll put up all the dates i'm playing regardless of what band.
i'm trying to get another live date for trademark and sadly, it will be our last. mike (guitarist) is leaving because he is way too busy with university. but for the last concert, we're gunna plan something extra special for everyone, so be sure to go! i'm busting my ass to try and get a friday/saturday date instead of a sunday/weekday because weekday shows are fucking hectic for everyone.
ummm what else... oh yeah, i've been shooting songs out like there's no tomorrow lately, i got tons of riffs written down, i just gotta piece em together till i make a song. so far i have 4 songs that are completely finished on the guitar, and drums but still need lyrics. i'm working on those, and half of em already have lyrics. they're sick so stay tuned.
that's about it for now. as soon as i finish writing my 10th song i will be hiring musicians for live concerts so i can start playing live shows as banxter kovacs... my songs... my way. all i can say for now is it will be fucking boss.
cheers from a bright-orange-recording-studio. |

| thanks for coming out! |
[Feb. 3rd, 2006|11:00 am] |
hey guys,
i just wanna thank everyone who came out to my show yesturday at the kathedral. it looked like everyone had a fuckin wicked time. i know i did. i also wanna thank dom and rosina from the kathedral for helping putting it together. and of course, the other bands that played with us. everything and everyone was fucking amazing. here are some pics:

photo credit goes to mr. t. kulmala.
in total, my band sold 59 tickets. of those 59, i sold about 35, so i'd say we had pretty good attendance. plus, the other bands sold many tickets too, so there was quite a nice fucking crowd yesturday. i wanna give a special thanks to olga for bringing a ton of her friends, and to all of the people that were in the pit.
cheers, and we'll see you all very fucking soon! |

| concerts coming up |
[Jan. 29th, 2006|10:22 pm] |
so my two back-to-back concerts are coming up. i can't say that i'm not excited. i'm fucking stoked.
on the one hand, i'm excited for the north toronto concert cause i'm playing in 4 fucking bands and one of them on guitar. it'll be my first show playing guitar and i think it'll be fucking sick. i practised with the guys today and it sounds really good. even though we're only playing 3 songs. and 2 are covers. but hey, at least the crowd will know them, right? ;)
on the other hand, i'm verryyyy fucking excited for my concert at the kathedral because i know that the setup will be professional and it'll be really cool to look out my drums and see a real crowd (no offence north toronto). for that show (with trademark) we're playing 7 songs. 6 originals and one cover. the cover is "in bloom" by nirvana. a fucking sick song by an even sicker band.
if you haven't bought tickets to the kathedral show, please do. it'll be cool and maybe the last time that band will ever play together. we may... MAY... have one more show together. but i think this'll be it for trademark.
so come out.
$5.
and p.s. -- olga don't be mad. we went but eric didn't wanna go. we were literally at the door. but he backed out. and i didn't wanna fucking leave him there.
cheers. |

| back to back concert |
[Jan. 19th, 2006|07:36 pm] |
umm... so battle of the bands is feb 2.
i just got my band a show at the kathedral on feb 2 as well.
my band goes on at 9... we play until 9:30. 3 other bands are playing: boomswasi, famous monsters, and radar hate. i think all of them are punk acts, but i'm not sure. i know that radar hate is, and they're pretty good. so basically it's a nice big punk / rock / alternative show. good stuff.
doors open at 8pm.
and the best part is -- advance tickets are only fucking $5.
i'll head on down to pick up about 50 tickets and hopefully i can sell them all.
come along... bring your friends, and enjoy the show.
it's gunna be fucked though since i'm playing in 3 bands for north toronto's battle of the bands (reduced from 5 cause with one i'm playing at the kathedral and the other that i won with last year didn't wanna play this year) and the load in time for the kathedral is 6 which means i gotta be outta north toronto by about 5:30.
i have a lot of ticket selling, time managing and promoting to do before feb 2.
p.s. -- olga please tell me you'll come with your friends. ;) i need a nice crowd who are fond of punk. :D |

| body worlds and battle of the bands |
[Jan. 17th, 2006|03:20 pm] |
yesturday i went to see the body worlds 2 exhibition at the ontario science center. lemme tell you... that shit was fucked up. bodies cut open. organs visible. nerves, veins, capilaries visible. FUCKING FETUSES and embryo's! there was a mother who's stomach was cut open and you could see the fetus inside of her. some seriously fucked up shit. i touched a human brain and liver. ALL REAL. that was the hardest to swallow.
they didn't have a bathroom in there. so i was walking around with brain and liver on my hands.
i need to get one of those bodies. it would be fucked up to own one of those.
the best part of it all is that you can donate your body to become a part of it.

in other news--battle of the bands is coming up at north toronto. it's feb 2. i'm playing in 4 bands. was supposed to be 5 but one dropped out. s'all good, 4 is fuckin enough as it is. playing guitar in one of em. drums in the other 3. dunno if people that aren't NT students can see it. if not, don't fret, i hope to have AT LEAST one show for february.
time will tell.
cheers, and i hope everyone is doing well. |

| only mine and recording |
[Jan. 2nd, 2006|08:26 pm] |
i made a new artwork today called "only mine." a lot of things were going on in my mind as i was making it as to meanings behind it, so there are tons of ways to interpret this. i see love, and religion mostly when i look at this, but everyone interprets things differently, so you might see something else. i submitted it to deviantart so if you go there you can see a bigger view, and read my thoughts about it cause i wrote a nice and detailed description about it.
i haven't made an artwork in a long time cause i've had an artist block for about 3 months.
but i'm glad it's gone. and i'm really proud of this one. lots of meanings, and i think i did a good job with the actual technical aspects of it too. please tell me what you guys think.
also, i've been recording some of my own shit in my studio. i already put a small little thing i did mostly for fun on myspace so go check that out if you haven't already done so. the stuff i've been recording has more guitar in it, that's just me singing on some music i programmed a while ago. thought it would be fun and it turned out pretty cool.
i hope everyone's doing well.
cheers. |

| happy new year |
[Dec. 31st, 2005|10:52 am] |
i just wanted to wish everyone a happy new year. i really wish only the best for you and yours in the coming years. make goals, work towards them and hopefully by 2007 you'll find yourself with a few less "imperfections"... or maybe not. what do i know? haha.
big things are happening with me. as in changes. i'm not gunna talk about anything right now, but it's got everything to do with music. you'll see soon enough. on a little tangent, i've been recording some of my material in the studio and it's sounding really cool. i have a little clip up on myspace called "just for fun." i might make a full song out of it for the hell of it.
also i wanna start photography. i'm gunna get a job somewhere and save up for a leica d-lux2 8MP digi. it's fuckin nice.

that's about all for now. i'm gunna be hitting up a few parties tonight.
i hope y'all will do the same.
if not, have a great time today, and i'll see you in 2006!
cheers. |

| trademark demo is done! |
[Dec. 28th, 2005|09:54 am] |
trademark's demo is done! that's right. george came over to my studio yesturday to record the vocal tracks. we spent a few hours on them, and now they're done. he was sick all of last week with bronchitis so he couldn't record until yesturday, but i'm really happy with how it sounds. after that i just mixed it and then mastered it. you can listen and download the mp3 files from http://myspace.com/trademarkrules
we recorded 5 songs, but only decided to put 3 on the demo. you'll probably hear the other two sometime soon on myspace, cause george will be dropping by my studio again to finish the vocal tracks for those too.
also, the same band that i was recording with for the past few weeks was supposed to have a photoshoot yesturday, but it got cancelled. it's moved to thursday now, so i'll be sure to show you how the photos turn out. we're going to some really industrial places in toronto with railway tracks and shit. i'm really excited for these photos!
enjoy and please tell me what you think.
cheers.
p.s. - i was recording some of my solo material yesturday too and all i can say is that it sounds fucking amazing. i can't wait to show you guys. it's much darker than trademark's stuff. trademark is more a band i'm in to fulfill my love for punk/alternative music. my solo music is much darker and heavier. industrial/electro/metal. :D can't wait till some tracks are done. |
